Learning to appreciate

So it just occurred to me that I needed to write this down. I am currently listening to / half watching the GDC talk by Mick Gordon on the music of DOOM. Now, DOOM isn't my cup of tea, the video game, music or otherwise. But the way that the music is explained by Mick and seeing his enthusiasm for it and seeing the build up of how the audio was generated, when it came to listening to the actual final Game Music I was struck by how much more amazing the music seemed.

This seems to also be the same for other types of music. Like in a round song. One person starts to sing, then you hear the next person start and then you hear a mixture of all the pieces fitting together. This slow build up of little pieces into the whole, makes it much more satisfying and intriguing.

I think this must be true of other mediums too, like learning how old paintings were made. How the artist had to mix the paints etc. This idea is unlike the "how the sausage is made" idea, where if you see the component parts, you come to dislike the final output.

Here's a link to the awesome talk my Mick Gordon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4FNBMZsqrY

Day 01. The beginning... not really.

Ok So just a short post to begin this insane experience we call life.

I have been doing it for about 33 years so far, but I'm starting POLYPHASIC sleeping again! Cass my most amazing and beautiful wife ever, has suggested that I start Polyphasic sleeping again TONIGHT! YAY!
Also it's the start of my blog! So Welcome! I wonder if anyone will read this. I was thinking in the past that I should look at this blog as a kind of conversation between all the different selves that I am. Like Past Simon and future simon.

HI FUTURE SIMON. I hope you're still going strong and not suffering too much sleep dep.

(Rivation is too long to type so it seems. )

I will also try to write down those things I think of when I'm not at my computer. Oh! AND continue the saga of Twisty Branches P.I.

Maybe we should call her Twisty Branches 3.14159 .... maybe that's a silly joke.

Let us instead end with a small illustration.

Testing the paste in Squarespace

So I will be testing to see if I can paste images from my clipboard into this Blog intereface of Squarespace.

Nope. Turns out that's a little too much wishful thinking on my part.

But I can still add images. I just also need to remember to refresh the page, because I think it times out after the page has been open too long.

Soon this blog will be filled with the coherent Dumbledore penseive style words and phrases from my brain. But for now, I still am a hibernating monophaser...set to STUN BABY!
